Kraft take-over of Cadbury

29/01/10

The Barrow Cadbury Trust is an independent charitable foundation endowed in 1920 by Barrow and Geraldine Cadbury and subsequently by a number of their descendents.

The connection between the company and the foundation was maintained for many years while family members were still involved in the management of both organisations. However, in recent years, as the family withdrew from the business, this historical link ended and there is now no link between the Barrow Cadbury Trust and the chocolate manufacturer.

The take-over of the Cadbury Chocolate Company by Kraft has no impact on the ability of the Barrow Cadbury Trust to honour its commitments in the West Midlands or elsewhere. We will continue to use the funds endowed by the Cadbury Family to support community organisations and strategic partners, seeking to overcome the structural barriers to a more just and equal society.
