Migration and Europe

Migration & Europe

The Migration and Europe programme aims to help ensure that migration is managed in an equitable and socially just manner and that the voices of migrants and receiving communities are heard in the public debate.

The Trust’s current work under this programme includes:

Grassroots projects The Trust supports grassroots organisations working with the most vulnerable groups of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. This includes undocumented migrants, who often face considerable hardship and discrimination. We support a variety of organisations working in diverse areas, particularly in Birmingham and the Black Country. In addition, we seek to support projects that provide a platform for migrants to speak out at local, national or international level.

Research and policy work The Trust is also committed to promoting a constructive and evidence-based debate on asylum and migration. For this reason we support research and policy work that explores ways in which immigration and integration can be managed in a socially just and equitable manner.

The Trust supports a number of projects that aim to promote more balance and a greater diversity of perspectives in the migration debate. It is also committed to exploring what drives public concerns about immigration and how these concerns can be addressed.

Our research and policy work is undertaken in partnership with think-tanks, academics, campaigners, policy-makers and other charitable trusts and foundations. As an independent, non-partisan body the Trust also facilitates dialogue between policy makers and grassroots campaigners.
